Frenzelit® Novapress®: Definition und Werkstoff-Eigenschaften
Frenzelit® Novapress® refers to a highly developed family of fiber-reinforced flat gasket materials based on aramid and glass fibers. By combining these with organic and inorganic binders such as NBR, gaskets with superior chemical resistance are created. For decades, the Frenzelit® brand has stood for asbestos-free sealing technology and is established as a standard in energy technology and the chemical industry.
This sealing material impresses with excellent creep resistance, minimal gas leakage, and maximum reliability. Our sealing sheets meet all relevant standards for high-pressure applications and the maintenance of complex industrial systems.
Frenzelit® Novapress®: Overview of Variants – Basic, Universal, 850, and multi II
The selection of the correct Novapress® quality is primarily based on your specific application and the required load profile. All fiber materials mentioned here are designed for temperatures up to max. +250°C:
While Novapress® Basic serves as a reliable all-rounder for general industry (water, oils, gases), Novapress® Universal is specifically optimized for higher requirements regarding recovery and thermal cycling. For mechanically less rigid constructions, Novapress® 850 (novaform® 2300) offers maximum adaptability as a specialist, while Novapress® multi II, as a premium mix, ensures high security against blow-outs in the medium-pressure range.
| Material | Primary Area of Application | Temperature Range | Approvals |
|---|---|---|---|
| Novapress® Basic | Universal all-rounder, oil-resistant. | +250°C | DVGW, ÖVGW, KTW |
| Novapress® Universal | High recovery & steam resistance. | +250°C | TA-Luft, Fire-Safe |
| Novapress® multi II | Graphite/aramid mix for blow-out safety. | +250°C | BAM, DVGW |
| Novapress® 850 (novaform® 2300) | Maximum adaptability (housings/pumps). | +250°C | FDA, W 270, DVGW, VP 401 |
Frenzelit® Novapress® Basic – The Economical All-Rounder
Frenzelit® Novapress® Basic is the proven standard material for general industrial maintenance. Based on aramid fibers and an NBR binder, this material offers excellent resistance to water, oils, and gases.
- Advantages: High cost-effectiveness, oil-resistant, and certified for contact with drinking water (according to KTW and DVGW W 270).
- Application: Pipelines, standard valves, and screw connections.
Frenzelit® Novapress® Universal – Maximum Pressure Resistance
Frenzelit® Novapress® Universal is the solution for applications with high surface pressure and thermal cycling. This material offers superior recovery, making it the ideal partner for saturated steam applications.
- Advantages: Excellent creep resistance and permanent tightness under high pressure.
- Standards: Meets the strictest requirements according to TA-Luft for low-emission connections.
Frenzelit® Novapress® multi II – The High-End Sealing Solution
Frenzelit® Novapress® multi II combines the advantages of graphite and aramid fibers. This variant is particularly high-performing at medium pressure and offers exceptional adaptability to uneven flange surfaces.
- Advantages: Minimal gas leakage and maximum blow-out safety.
- Application: Safety-critical processes in pipeline construction and the chemical industry.
Frenzelit® Novapress® 850 (novaform® 2300) – Extreme Values in Exhaust Technology
Frenzelit® Novapress® 850 (also known as novaform® 2300) offers a unique combination of the mechanical stability of classic fiber gaskets and the excellent adaptability of an elastomer seal.
- Advantages: Ideal for easily deformable or non-rigid structural parts, as well as components with unevenly distributed surface pressure.
- Application: Cover or housing seals for gearboxes and pumps.
- Special feature: Comprehensive approvals for gas supply (DVGW, VP 401), water supply (drinking water approval according to Elastomer Guideline, W 270), and food (FDA, EC 1935/2004).
Complementary Sealing Materials: PTFE, EPDM & Sponge Rubber
In addition to Frenzelit® fiber materials, Kofler - Dichtungen carries complementary materials for specialized sealing requirements:
Frenzelit® Novapress® Waterjet Cutting: Precision without Thermal Load
Frenzelit® Novapress® waterjet cutting is our preferred method for precise cutting. Since it is a cold separation process, the structure of the aramid fibers and the binder is not subjected to thermal stress.
This guarantees that the specific surface pressure and recovery properties of the material remain fully intact during use. We manufacture your custom gaskets in any desired dimension – precisely starting from a quantity of 1 in Mils, Tyrol.

Frenzelit® Novapress® vs. Klingersil® – Which brand for which facility?
Both brands, Frenzelit and Klinger, belong to the absolute top tier of fiber-reinforced flat gasket materials based on aramid fibers. In practice, they are often considered equivalent – nevertheless, there are application-specific differences that can be decisive during selection.
Novapress® Universal vs. Klingersil® C-4400
Both are universal all-rounders with comparable approvals (DVGW, BAM, TA-Luft). Historically, Novapress® Universal is regarded as a classic for steam applications, while Klingersil® C-4400 is considered the reference standard, particularly in the DACH region. In many plants, both are directly interchangeable.
Novapress® multi II vs. Klingersil® C-4430
Novapress® multi II with graphite content is the first choice for torsional stress and steam applications, while Klingersil® C-4430 is optimized for drinking water and FDA applications.
Conclusion: Kofler - Dichtungen processes both brands and advises you independently of the manufacturer. Contact us – we will select the optimal material for your specific plant.
Technical Data & Performance Parameters of Novapress® Gaskets
In every Frenzelit® data sheet, engineers find the critical values for compressibility (ASTM F 36 J) and creep resistance (DIN 52913). These physical parameters are crucial for permanently ensuring tightness and mechanical stability under high operating pressure.
