Order Klinger® flat gaskets directly from Kofler - Dichtungen
As a specialized seal manufacturer, we process Klinger® flat gaskets according to your individual requirements. Static sealing elements, such as the Klingersil® seal, prevent the unwanted exchange of substances at stationary contact surfaces. These static seals reliably protect connected components from leaks and pressure loss, significantly increasing the operational safety of your systems.
A typical example of the application of a Klinger® flat gasket is the sealing in pipe screw connections (so-called union seals) and larger flange dimensions, as well as housing seals in demanding apparatus engineering.

Klinger® flat gaskets: Definition and material advantages
A Klinger® flat gasket is a high-performance sealing material based on fiber-reinforced materials. The Klinger® brand is trusted worldwide across the chemical industry and plant engineering, as it stands for pioneering innovations in the field of asbestos-free sealing sheets.
These seals consist of a precise mixture of high-quality aramid fibers and special binders made of NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber). The result is a high-pressure seal characterized by excellent creep resistance, minimal gas leakage (tightness), and high resistance to hydrocarbons, fuels, and lubricants. Whether in drinking water supply or power plant construction – Klinger® solutions provide the necessary safety for people and the environment.
Klingersil® – The specialized high-pressure seal for flange applications
The Klingersil® product family is the heart of the Klinger® portfolio. These materials were specifically developed for flange applications and cover an extremely wide range of requirements – from the use of refrigerants to the resistance to inorganic acids.
| Property | Technical Specification / Value |
|---|---|
| Temperature resistance | Operating ranges from -200°C up to +250°C |

Klingersil® C-4400: The universal sealing sheet
The Klingersil® C-4400 seal is the most widely used standard material in industrial maintenance. This static seal is based on aramid fibers with an NBR binder and offers excellent resistance to hydrocarbons, oils, and gases.
- Advantages: Excellent creep resistance and economic efficiency combined with high technical reliability.
- Application: Universal use in pipelines, heating systems, and machine components.
- Examples: Sealing of oxygen lines (thanks to BAM approval) or gas fittings in the DIN-DVGW sector.
We are also happy to provide you with the Klingersil® C-4400 data sheet.
Klingersil® C-4500 sealing sheet – High performance for the chemical industry
The Klingersil® C-4500 sealing sheet is a specialized carbon fiber material for the most demanding media. It was developed to ensure maximum tightness even at high temperatures and in contact with strong alkalis or inorganic acids.
- Advantages: Highest chemical resistance and certified safety in the event of a fire.
- Application: High-pressure steam systems and safety-critical process lines in refineries.
- Examples: Use as a Fire-Safe seal according to DIN EN ISO 10497 in plants with increased fire hazards (HTB requirements).
Klingersil® C-4430 sealing sheet – Premium protection for drinking water and steam
As an optimized high-pressure material, the Klingersil® C-4430 sealing sheet combines glass fibers with high-quality aramid fibers. It is the first choice for applications requiring exceptional resistance to hot water and steam.
- Advantages: Physiologically safe and extremely resilient under thermal cycling conditions.
- Application: Primary use in drinking water supply, food production, and the pharmaceutical industry.
- Examples: Seals in brewery plants (FDA-compliant) or central supply lines (according to DVGW W 270 and KTW).
Klinger® Graphite – The solution for extreme temperatures
Klinger® Graphite laminates (such as PSM or SLS) are based on pure, expanded graphite and are designed for applications where conventional fiber materials fail thermally. These graphite seals offer unsurpassed adaptability to flange irregularities.
- Advantages: Virtually unlimited thermal resistance in non-oxidizing atmospheres and excellent resistance to thermal shocks.
- Application: Use in refineries, power plants, and high-pressure steam pipe systems.
- Examples: Sealing of superheated steam fittings or exhaust systems under extreme conditions (-240°C to +550°C).
- Special features: Certified as Fire-Safe and compliant with TA-Luft for minimized emissions.
Comparison: Klinger® vs. conventional flat gaskets
When choosing the optimal flat gasket, the added value of Klinger® compared to standard materials is decisive for plant safety. The essential difference lies in the material composition and the depth of certification:
1. Klinger® vs. standard NBR/rubber: Simple elastomer seals tend to "flow" (cold flow) under high operating pressure. Thanks to the inclusion of aramid fibers, Klinger® fiber materials offer significantly higher mechanical stability and creep resistance (tested according to DIN 52913).
2. Klinger® quality vs. no-name materials: Klinger® guarantees homogeneous material quality. While cheap imports often show fluctuations in compressibility, Klingersil® ensures permanent tightness and meets the strictest standards, such as TA-Luft.
3. Klinger® vs. other premium brands: Compared to other brands such as Frenzelit®, Klinger® stands out primarily due to its vast range of international approvals and the market presence of the Klingersil® series, which is considered the technical benchmark worldwide.
Klingersil® waterjet cutting: Precision without thermal load
Klingersil® waterjet cutting is the ideal process for shaping Klinger® fiber materials without thermal material influence. Since it is a cold cutting process, the physical properties of the aramid fibers and the NBR binder remain fully intact.
This is particularly advantageous for the production of special seals, as no expensive punching tools are required. Whether filigree webs or large flange diameters – Klingersil® waterjet cutting enables the tightest tolerances for your individual requirements.

Technical data & performance parameters of Klingersil® seals
In every Klinger® data sheet, engineers find essential information regarding compressibility (according to ASTM F 36 J) and the thickness decrease (according to DIN 52913) under heat exposure of the Klingersil® seal. These parameters ensure that the integrity of the connection remains guaranteed over the entire life cycle of the pipelines. For thermal calculations, we also provide exact values for thermal conductivity in W/mK.
For which applications is Klingersil® suitable?
- Chemical industry: Sealing in contact with inorganic acids and aggressive salt solutions.
- Drinking water supply: Use of certified materials according to DVGW, ÖVGW, and the new Elastomer Guideline.
- Refrigeration technology: Reliable barrier against modern refrigerants.
- Energy technology: High-pressure steam lines with maximum creep resistance.
